Arizona's Oldest Mineral Society
PETRIFIED WOOD is the target of the trip. It is a WEDNESDAY trip! The trip is to Dobell Ranch (near the Petrified Forest National Park) and is being led by the Daisy Mountain Club (Anthem, AZ). Several other clubs have also been invited. This is a “pay-to-dig” event.
The wood is colorful and small to very large pieces are available. A 5 gallon bucket full of petrified wood is about $40.
From Daisy Mountain: "We are going to meet at Jim Gray's Petrified Wood Shop at the corner of Navajo Blvd. and US-180 at 9:45 AM and then leave as soon as everyone on the list is accounted for. The trip down to DoBell Ranch is a straight shot about 16 miles across US-180. Any vehicle can make this trip without issue."
This field trip is open to guests.
