Mingus Mountain Jasper with Hematite 

Banded Iron Formation (BIF)

ALERT FROM BILL FREESE:

  • Northbound I-17 will be closed at Jomax Road and then narrowed to one lane to Loop 303/Sonoran Desert Drive from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9. The following ramp also will be closed nightly (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.):
    • The northbound I-17 off-ramp at Loop 303/Sonoran Desert Drive
  • DETOUR: Drivers will exit northbound I-17 at Jomax Road and reenter I-17 using the Jomax Road on-ramp.
  • NOTE: East- and westbound Jomax Road at I-17 will be CLOSED. 
    • Southbound I-17 drivers can continue to Happy Valley Road and use northbound 19th Avenue to access Jomax Road.
    • Drivers wanting to enter southbound I-17 at Jomax Road will be detoured onto northbound I-17 to access southbound I-17 at Dixileta Drive.
      • Drivers may use southbound 19th Avenue or Norterra Parkway to access southbound I-17 at Happy Valley Road to avoid traveling through the closure.
